To extent, this myth is false but there are some truths. How to quit pulling my hair?

I have a huge fear of human hair that is not attached to the skull. I would pull out my hair to prevent seeing strands fall out. Only way I stopped was shaving it so short that I could not pull it out or notice hair strands that fell out. I am a lady and I did that for 2 years. My boyfriend was not a fan, but understood. It's growing back from that and its now down to my shoulders. I still fear hair, but I do not pull it out anymore. Yes I still have moments where I do pull out large chunks, but I stop myself by biting my nails, picking pimples, typing on the computer. Basically I keep my hands busy so they do not inch up to my head to pull. It's a struggle, but I feel like I have control now. I would pull at the bottom so I kept the hair down. Since you tend to pull at the top, a side part might hide it. Maybe side part your hair and tie in a ponytail so no one will notice. Also there is an aerosol spray paint for bald people, that helps with hiding it too, since there are a lot of different colors. Curling the hair seems to show the bald spots. A messy bun also can help hide the spots. You can and will gain control over this, it wo not be easy or fast, but its possible.
