You can use baby shampoo or any plain shampoo, something that does not have conditioner in it. You do not have to buy a special brush cleaner!!! You do not need to put conditioner on them because it will leave a coating on the brush, just like it does hair. I dry my brushes by putting them on the window sill (on a paper towel) and the sun helps them dry fast.

Regular shampoo is a bad idea. And I agree with the others do not let the soap sit on the brushes, unless of course you want your brushes ruined. Baby shampoo is gentler and in my opinion gets my brushes cleaner then the MAC Brush Cleanser. Go with what you think, rather then what your friend thinks, and you will be okay.

Once you've done this with every brush, you run it under semi warm water and you swirl it around on your hand until all the soap is done. Once you've done that with each brush, you blot them with a towel to dry a little and then dry them with the bristles facing downward. Do not EVER let a brush air dry with the bristles facing up or leave it on the side because it will loosen the glue and bristles will start to fall out. Hope I helped :)
