Microsoft Promotes the Development of Password Free Technology, Hoping to Make the Insecure Traditio
Microsoft pointed out that in almost all network attacks, 80% target passwords. On a pro rata basis, at least one of every 250 corporate accounts is affected by this threat every month.
In order to make users transition to the password free solution, Microsoft has been trying to promote the technical development in this field in recent years. As of November 2019, 100 million people have been using Microsoft's password free login solution.
By may 2020, this figure has increased to 150 million. This means that in the face of the weak traditional password and the insecurity of the "remember password" scheme, millions of people are ready to abandon the password.

Looking back on 2020, Microsoft participated in many meetings, during which it shared its vision for the future without password and the vision of zero trust environment, and demonstrated fido2 security key in the mixed environment, support preview of azure active directory, and the password free wizard provided through Microsoft 365 management center.

â— the total number of password free users across azure active directory and Microsoft consumer accounts has exceeded 150 million.
â— the number of consumer users using Windows Hello instead of password to log in to windows 10 devices has increased from 69.4% in 2019 to 84.7% in 2020.
Looking ahead, Microsoft plans to eliminate traditional passwords for all customers in 2021. At present, the company is developing new APIs, user experience for managing fido2 security keys, and providing an "aggregate registration portal" so that customers can easily manage their password free login credentials.
